Liceo de Davao’s HUMSS Strand cultivates critical thinkers, effective communicators, and compassionate citizens by immersing students in the study of language, culture, history, and society. Building on the Department of Education’s vision for the Humanities and Social Sciences Track, our program goes beyond theory—integrating values formation, community-based research, and leadership projects that reflect Liceo’s commitment to “nurturing minds, shaping values, and empowering future leaders.” Through interdisciplinary coursework, service learning, and cultural immersion, HUMSS students at Liceo gain the analytical tools and ethical grounding needed to address complex social issues and to advocate for positive change in Tagum City and beyond.


Program Overview

The HUMSS Strand equips learners with competencies in communication, critical analysis, and research methodologies. At Liceo de Davao, we frame each subject around real-world applications: students examine Philippine history to understand contemporary governance, explore global philosophies to hone ethical reasoning, and dissect media texts to become discerning consumers and producers of information. Our faculty guide learners to synthesize theory and practice through collaborative projects, debates, and public forums—ensuring graduates are prepared for tertiary studies in fields such as education, communication arts, psychology, social work, law, and public administration.

  • Philippine Politics and Governance
    Offers an in-depth look at the Philippine political system, public policy, and governance challenges, fostering critical awareness and civic engagement.
  • Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship
    Guides students to design and implement service-learning initiatives—literacy campaigns, environmental clean-ups, or health workshops—in partnership with local NGOs.
  • Research in Daily Life 1 & 2
    Trains learners in basic research design, data collection, and analysis methods—surveys, interviews, and field observation—culminating in a student-led research project on a community issue.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Liceo de Davao ensures that financial barriers do not hinder student potential. As a PEAC-certified school, we offer the Senior High School Voucher Program:

  • 100% Free Tuition for incoming Grade 11 students from public schools and ALS completers
  • 70% Discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees for continuing ESC scholars and Qualified Voucher Recipients (QVR) from other private schools

Additional support includes family discounts, early-payment incentives, and guidance through the scholarship application process. Prospective HUMSS learners are encouraged to submit the standard admission requirements—PSA birth certificate, certificate of good moral character, 2×2 ID photos—and any voucher or ESC credentials to the Registrar’s Office for prompt processing.
