Senior High School TVL – Caregiving NC II

According to the Department of Education, the Senior High School Technical–Vocational–Livelihood (TVL) Track equips learners with industry-aligned competencies based on TESDA training regulations, enabling them to enter the workforce, start micro-enterprises, or pursue further education upon graduation. At Liceo de Davao, we expand this vision by weaving compassionate leadership and community service into our Home Economics Strand. Our Caregiving NC II specialization not only trains students in essential healthcare skills but also instills values of empathy, integrity, and cultural sensitivity—preparing graduates to serve families, institutions, and communities with professionalism and heart.


Program Overview

The Caregiving NC II course is a 640-hour, TESDA-accredited curriculum designed to develop the competencies needed to provide quality care for infants, children, the elderly, and persons with special needs. Students learn foundational concepts in anatomy and physiology, nutrition and feeding assistance, basic life support, and infection control. Through a blend of classroom lectures, skills laboratories, and real-world practicums, learners acquire both technical proficiency and interpersonal skills—ensuring they can deliver holistic, person-centered care in home settings, long-term care facilities, or healthcare institutions.


Curriculum & Competency Standards
  • Fundamentals of Caregiving
    Introduction to the role, responsibilities, and ethical standards of a professional caregiver. Covers communication skills, body mechanics, and workplace safety.
  • Personal Care and Hygiene Assistance
    Techniques for bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting clients of varied ages and abilities, with respect for dignity and privacy.
  • Mobility Support
    Safe transfer, positioning, and ambulation methods to prevent client injury and promote independence.
  • Basic Nutrition and Feeding
    Meal planning, feeding techniques, and hydration monitoring tailored to individual dietary needs and medical conditions.
  • Health Monitoring and Vital Signs
    Measurement and recording of temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; recognition of warning signs and effective reporting.
  • Psychosocial Support
    Strategies for building rapport, offering emotional support, and engaging clients in recreational and therapeutic activities.

TESDA Partnership & Certification

Liceo de Davao is proud to partner with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to ensure quality-assured training and assessment. Upon completing the program, students undergo the TESDA Competency Assessment, evaluating their mastery of caregiving competencies. Successful candidates receive the National Certificate II in Caregiving, a credential recognized locally and internationally. This certification opens pathways for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and as licensed domestic caregivers—both in the Philippines and abroad.


Practicum & Community Engagement

Our Briz Campus features a dedicated Caregiving Skills Laboratory complete with hospital beds, mobility aids, and medical-grade equipment for realistic simulation. Students also participate in community-based practicum placements at partner hospitals, senior care facilities, and barangay health centers. These supervised field experiences deepen clinical skills while reinforcing Liceo’s commitment to service beyond the classroom—allowing learners to apply their training in real-world settings and build professional networks.


Career Pathways & Outcomes

Graduates of the Caregiving NC II program can pursue careers as:

  • Certified Caregivers in healthcare institutions
  • Live-in or live-out domestic caregivers
  • Rehabilitation aides and eldercare attendants
  • Home health assistants for persons with disabilities
  • Aspiring nursing students with a strong healthcare foundation

Many alumni leverage their TESDA certification to secure jobs immediately after Senior High or to fund further studies in nursing, physical therapy, or social work.
